Discovery Science Center Features Full-Scale Replica of Mars Curiosity Rover!
If the recent space news has your kids talking about “Curiosity” and the awesome space program, make your way down to Discovery Science Center and check out the full-scale replica of “Curiosity” space rover!
The exhibit is on display through Labor Day and features four sections exploring the rover and its mission on Mars.
The sections for guests to explore include:
- Curiosity rover~ View the sophisticated science instruments that Curiosity is equipped with, such as the Chemical Analyzer Spectrometer that identifies Martian minerals. This instrument tells scientists what environmental conditions existed when the mineral groups were originally formed.
- Planet Mars~Discover what scientists currently know about the “red” planet: how it differs from Earth, its surface features, polar ice caps and canyons. What type of soil will Curiosity be driving over?
- Mission~ Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Learn what NASA’s landing plans were for Curiosity and what its job is once on Martian soil.
- Investigation Rocks ~ Become the explorer by taking a closer look at different rock samples from Mars. Look through the large magnifying glass and compare samples while taking note of what the scientists have taught you.
It looks like kids will have a great time exploring and learning. For more info, visit www.discoverycube.org or call (714) 542-2823.
See you there!
