DC or bust! My recap on the trip of a lifetime with #TopBlogueras
I seriously don’t know how to start this post. I’ve been sitting here looking at a blank screen trying to put into words the whirlwind adventure of the last 3 days. I didn’t even get to announce here that I was invited to attend a Top Latina Bloggers Retreat.
I try to save the word honor for extremely special occasions. This trip was a blessing and a complete privilege to be a part of.
I feel very honored to be a part of this blogging tribe.
Latism and Latina Bloggers Connect put together 70 of the top Latina bloggers across the nation and took us to non other than the capital of the this nation- Washington DC, The White House.
Hailing from my humble roots in East L.A., this amigas, was a personal achievement. The conference started of with a reception to meet and greet other bloggers. There were some faces I didn’t recognize and others, the minute our eyes made contact- everything was alright in this world. Here, nationality was transparent. Niches were invalid. We were simply bloggers.
The next day, the cab ride to the White House was filled with great anticipation and joy. As we made our way to the briefing room and conversed with White House officials, the feeling was surreal. I kept thinking about my kids and how I can transfer to them this natural high I was feeling of being where I was. Heck, if I can make it to this point as a blogger, (with the support from Latism and Latina Bloggers Connect) what more for my nenes who still have their whole lives ahead of them.
Dare I dream that one day my sons or daughter will be working at our nations capital? As lawmakers? Senators? Working in the Departments of Agriculture or Education and actually making a difference for this nation? Better yet, will my kids be sitting where I was, getting information for their audience- as a blogger one day? Or…
Could I be raising the next President of the United States?
Prepárate, White House…
This is not a paid post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was invited to this exclusive event as a Top Latina Blogger. All travel and accommodations were sponsored.
