Fresh Strawberries with Holland House Balsamic Vinegar & Sorbet

Want a dessert that will knock the socks off your guest when you have them over for dinner?  Silvia has brought us an awesome recipe that will make your mouth water, just by looking at the pictures!

I know balsamic vinegar is used with salads and dressing, but for dessert?  Strawberries?  Holland House Balsamic Vinegar is among some of the many vinegars and marinades made from Holland House.  You can find it at your local super market.

Fresh Strawberries with Holland House Balsamic Vinegar & Sorbet

Ingredients:

2 lbs Fresh Strawberries
2 oz. Balsamic Vinegar
1/4 cup Sugar
1 Whole Lemon Zest
a pinch of salt

Directions:

This is a great option for those who are unable to find reduced balsamic vinegar, like myself :) Start by combining the sugar, vinegar, lemon zest and salt in a saucepan.

Stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is brought to a rolling boil. The smell of the vinegar reducing is very potent, so I would suggest to open any windows or stand clear. If not, you’ll be crying like if you just chopped an entire onion…NO BUENO!

Once vinegar is reduced, which should be at a syrup consistency or just where the vinegar mixture coats the back of a spoon. Fold in the cut pieces of strawberries into the balsamic vinegar and plate in a serving dish.

I used pomegranate sorbet, which I topped with the strawberry vinegar mixture. You may use any flavor of sorbet of your choice or basically eat it alone…..because it is soooo good.

¡Buen Provecho!

Gracias Silvia.  This looks really yummy and simple to make.  Those ingredients are really easy to find, too!
